'49 Coronet D30, picked up a head from the salvage yard from a late P25 ('54 Plymouth). The later head is set up for the internal coolant bypass (bump on front of head). Of course my block is not cast with the matching hole.

Should I have this extra hole in the head plugged after I have the head milled?

Is the hole just going to match up to the head gasket and block as a dead-end passage then? As long as the hole doesn't extend past the front edge of the block I think you'll be ok, especially since these are low pressure (or no pressure) cooling systems. Just my opinion.
