Steven Hood Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 This truck is listed as a 1949, but serial number and dash clearly say 1953. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge-Other-Pickups-49-dodge-pickup_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6197QQihZ012QQitemZ220055773935QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Quote
Vintrader Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 I agree with the dash looking like a 53. But the grille and rear fenders are not from a 53. Dutch Quote
IanT_Qld Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 Could this be one of the X trucks? or an export model? see the thread "Oz Van" Our imports (form Canada) maintained the pannels from the B1 right through to 1960ish, not sure if the dash updated or not. Quote
Steven Hood Posted December 6, 2006 Author Report Posted December 6, 2006 My guess is that he replaced the cab for some reason (rust, accident, etc.). All the outer sheet metal is early Pilot-House, but the serial number stated it is a 1953, and the dash is '53 because of the "D O D G E" emblem in the center, if I remember correctly. Quote
Big50Dodge Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 In the photo of the rear of the truck (showing the parts in the bed), there are two other Pilot-house trucks - one on each side of the advertised truck. Perhaps those are mixed also - there is not enough photo there to determine if they are full trucks in the front. I would guess outer metal is what was replaced. Quote
Ken_Hart Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 I sent an email to the guy with the truck when it came onto ebay.. It looks like he is selling several trucks and has a garage with parts (but he is not looking to sell much at this time.. ) could not tell if he was liquidating or not Quote
