Guest Roadrunner Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 I have a 1940 Plymouth that needs a front crossmember. I maybe able to get ont from a 1941 Dodge or a 1941 Plymouth. Does anybody know if they are compatable with my 1940 car. What other years are compatable? Thanks for the help. Steve and Darrien Quote
Gary Manes Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 You will need a parts book to be sure. I had to get a new (different) one for my 1948 New Yorker. According to the parts manual for the "post" war models the Chrysler/Desoto/Dodge all used the same front crossmember, and is also true for a number of other major parts. As it turned out I was able to obtain a Windsor crossmember from a fellow in Montana who had just installed a subframe in his sedan. Quote
Guest Roadrunner Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 I got some leads on a interchange book. Where do I get a parts book? Who sells one? Quote
Jim Yergin Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Steve, A possible source for the part you are looking for is Moore's Auto Salvage in South Dakota. You may want to check out their web site. http://www.mooresautosalvage.com/about.asp I have dealt with them a couple of times and have been very pleased. They may also be able to tell you about any interchanges if they do not have a 1940 part. Jim Yergin Quote
Jim Yergin Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Steve, If you go to Chet's web site (http://www.chetscoins.com/1948p15/) he has the 1936 to 48 Plymouth Master Parts Manual available on line. You use "password" as the password to gain access. Jim Quote
