John,

According to the factory parts manual posted on Chet's website, the 1940 P9 and P10 used the same gas tank as the 1946-1948 P15 (Part #1121520).

i know this doesnt awsner your question, but on my 47 i had a heck of a time trying to find a replacment tank for mine. mine was very rust and had a few pin holes in it. but i sent mine to myers tank re-new and they did a great job. its not a show quality tank or anything like that, but it fixed all the holes. and thats all i wanted

Travis:

The whole top of my tank is rusted out and not too sure about the bottom, I'd say it shot and needs replacement.

Any one have an extra one that we might be able to barter on or I'll buy?

I have a complete 47 p-15 4dr that I'm using parts off of. Still has many parts.

Thank You and God Bless..

All of the post war Mopars used the same tank--except for the New Yorkers/Saratogas. So, if you can find one from a Dodge/Desoto/Windsor you will have a match.

If you are "forced" to buy a new one, Rock Valley makes one out of stainless steel with straps. I have one on my New Yorker. The original tank was a goner, as well as my spare. The Rock Valley units are pricey, however!!
