Do the 75 year old clearance specs for new valve guides and valves still apply to after market valve guides and valves. Installed both in my 218. The intakes are good but the exhaust already seem loose enough but by my measurements ( close as I can measure )  says I still need another .002 of clearance. Is all this clearance still needed ? The SBC valve that some say can be modified to fit these engines do not run near this much clearance in a chevy head. The valve guides and valves are from Andy Bernbaum and I was told the guides typically don't need to be reamed. Tried searching this topic but nothing came up. Thanks in advance for your expertise.   Flat Jack
