grey beard Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 That there are TWO different steering wheels for Pilothouse trucks? One has a wheel with the spokes spaced at even thirds around the circle, just like equal pieces of pie. The second type has a "Y" configuration with the two top spokes closer together than the other spaces. There are also two different diameters of wheel - big trucks vs pickups? My problem is that I have the former steering wheel and the latter horn ring, (Thanks again, Jim Roach, for your kindness). I didn't realize this until I iheld a horn ring in my hands and compared it with my wheel. Then I began to look at photos on this web site and noticed the different types shown. Anybody want to swap? Jim Dohr Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 I'm looking for a wheel if anyone's got a spare they'd be willing to part with. Quote
grey beard Posted December 19, 2006 Author Report Posted December 19, 2006 Yup! That's the wheel I have a horn ring for. My original, nice condition wheel has three equal segments, just like when Mom cut her apple pie for the boys. What have you got? What do you need? Regards, Quote
Vintrader Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Dave, I saw the steering wheel on ebay awhile back. It did not get any bids but I saved the listing and contacted the guy today. His name is Tod, email is mike@laceycarparts.com he still has it and will take $35 + Shipping. It looks like it will need to be redone, but thats not very hard. Let me know if it works out. MBF Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 I think the equally segmented wheel is just for use with the black round center horn button. The one with the distinctive "Y" or "V" shaped spokes is the one to use with the horn ring. This wheell also has a lip around the center opening that fits up under the horn ring. The equally spaced spoked wheels do not have this lip and not only will the horn ring spokes not align with the steering wheel spokes, the center portion won't fit down to the mounting dog. Just my 2 cents. Mike Quote
