I gotta say.  I am totally confident you can do the swap.  At the age of 14 I removed the entire drivetrain out of a 1952 oldsmobile and put it in the chopped and channeled 1934 ford rolling chassis my Dad bought me. If you go old school with no electronics, you are home free.  I designed all the mounts and the local blacksmith did all the welding and built me a set of megaphone headers to boot.
