townwagon Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Guys, I have been researching dimmer switches in my 48-53 parts books, and I have found something confusing. The parts books that were issued in 1948 and 1949 all claim that the dimmer switch for all models was the 859974. This includes the Route Van and Power Wagon parts books. The weird part is that the parts books issued in 1951 and 1953 all claim the dimmer switch part number is 1253003, and there is no breakdown for early or later trucks. This holds true for the Route Van and Power Wagon parts books for those eras. Has anyone run into this before? Does anyone have a 1950 parts book they can check the part number in? 8-53-150 is the location. Thanks for any help you can provide. Eric Quote
IanT_Qld Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 The 50 (B2B) is closer to the 48-49 (B1B) truck than a B3B (51-53), so my vote (because i've done no research) is the earlier one. Quote
Steven Hood Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 According to my 48-50 book, the dimmer switch number is 1253 003. The bracket has all sorts of "up to" numbers, and "excepts", but only one number for 8-53-150. Hope that helps. Steve Quote
grey beard Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 The orrect part number is sorta' extraneous unless you know a source of nos parts. Generic NAPA swirtches work fine for me. All you need is a three post floor mount switch connected as per the truck schemaitic. Should be a piece'a cake. Quote
