40plyrod Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 I was talking with a few older locals lately and they were talking about the old times here on the island. I've learnt that when the old timers are talking you should shut your mouth and listen and you may learn something. Apparently we had a couple of pretty great dragstrps in the 60's, San Cobble in the early 60's and Van Isle in the late 60's. I been into hot rods my entire life and never heard of them before. I was pointed to the Vancouver Island Hot Rod Association website for a few videos of the tracks and thought I'd share the link http://www.vihr.ca/photos , check out the vintage Van Isle video it's a little long at 44 minutes but a nice trip back to a simpler time. Even though the dragstrip is now all houses I'm thinking of taking a drive and checking it out. If your so inclined check out the rest of the Vancouver Island Hot Rod Association's website and you'll see some of the cars and shows and cruise nights from island. 1 Quote
