52Suburban Posted July 20, 2015 Report Posted July 20, 2015 Put in a new window to replace a cracked one on the drivers side. Also found a latch that has the springs intact and works great. I am having trouble attaching the arm that connects to the lock mechanism and is mounted on the door - to allow inside door opening and locking. There is a metal tab on the latch that is supposed to line up with a slot on the arm. However, the orientation of the tab and the slot are not such that I can slide the arm on. Is there a trick to this?? Is there a particular order to put things back together and I am just not doing the puzzle right?? Thanks in advance.....! Quote
_shel_ny Posted July 20, 2015 Report Posted July 20, 2015 (edited) If you are talking about these parts the only way i have removed them is as a unit. The link is rotated ( I think 90 degrees) after removal to allow it to be removed from the lock. I would expect installation would be done in the reverse order. If not talking about these parts I have no answer. You can indicate by the # on the diagram where your problem exists. Someone will probably have an answer. Edited July 20, 2015 by shel_ny Quote
52Suburban Posted July 20, 2015 Author Report Posted July 20, 2015 Thanks! Those are the parts I was talking about. Maybe because of the broken lock I was able to slide them apart and together. I will try and join them and then install as one unit tonight. Quote
_shel_ny Posted July 20, 2015 Report Posted July 20, 2015 The link just rides on the post with the rectangular end, so it (the rectangle) is out of alignment with the slot in the link to prevent it (the link) from falling off during day to day operation. I expect that the spring washer is there to keep it from rattling. Quote
52Suburban Posted July 21, 2015 Author Report Posted July 21, 2015 Got it! Had to leave the latch and pull unattached so that I could move/rotate both so I could get the tab in the slot and then mount everything. Quote
