Met a legend in the rod/custom car field last night........

.......Darryl Starbird..... who has a museum and shop near Grand Lake O' The Cherokees in Oklahoma.     About an hour from here in Joplin...or about an hour from Tulsa.

The museum is approx. 40,000 sq feet and houses 50 cars built by him and others.  Darryl has

built several of those futuristic bubble top sort of cars.........plus other things that will probably

not be pleasing to strictly  antique auto fans,   Darryl began his career back in the 50s in

Wichita, KS. --- moved to the lake several years ago.  He also hosts a big custom show in

Tulsa.

Anyway.......we went to a casino near Seneca, MO (about 20 miles from home) last night to hear

a fellow we know Eddie Valen, and his band.  Daryl, his wife, and another couple had also come

to hear Eddie.   So I wandered over and visited with Darryl for a bit....a real nice guy.....and he

invited me to bring the Plymouth to a show at his museum on June 5th and 6th of this year.

Will try to do that if possible.

Darryl says he likes to keep busy in his shop to maintain his touch with

the cars and the body work.
