3dodgedoobie Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 Ok. 1st off. 52 dodge 1/2ton. Engine is out of 87 fifth ave. Converted to carb. No electronic controlled crap. I have a water leak it was leaking towards back and coming down around bellhousing and engine block mounting. About 1/2 way up on side. I pulled motor and tranny out. Sitting on tires on floor. I seperated tranny from engine. To replace freeze plugs. Thought that was the issue. But dont look like they been leaking. How can I check for leaks while engine is out of trk? Could I fill it with water and see if leaks? Quote
chopt50wgn Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 Did you have the manifold off? If you did the leak could be coming from the intake. They give you gaskets to seal the ends of the manifold but most everyone uses a nice bead of silicone instead of the gaskets. If it's not that, you can use a dye to run thru the system then using a blacklight the dye can be seen. But you have to have the motor running so you can flow the coolant. Quote
3dodgedoobie Posted August 12, 2014 Author Report Posted August 12, 2014 Yea I did change the intake but used silicone on it. And when in trk and leaking I had paper towell in hand and went all over intake gasket area. First thing I thought about when I seen it leaking. Quote
