rearview Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Well, Saturday was the day. My 52 Wayfarer moved and stopped under it's own power. Disc brakes rock, but my carburetor sucks still. Went around the block 2x with a big SEG on my face, even did a little burnout, then pulled into the driveway and it died. Ran out of gas. Things accomplished since last update: Disc brakes, e-brake, paper air filter (in original housing) convert to dual stage master, then back to stock master, mount tires (by hand!!) and a plethora of little detail work. Thanks to all who provided advice and technical data that I relied on. Especially Norm's Coupe... thanks man!! Quote

eric wissing Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Sounds like you are making good headway. What did you mean by "converted to dual then back to original"? You completely changed back to riginal? If so was there a problem? Thanks, Eric Quote
rearview Posted May 21, 2007 Author Report Posted May 21, 2007 The ECI master kit didn't fit my car. There wasn't physically enough room to mount the MC bracket and linkage between the crossmember and floor.... manufacturing variances??? who knows. Works just dandy with the stock MC. Will lock up and stop in a hurry (need seatbelts) Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Bob, Glad to hear you got the disc brakes on and you like them. Is ECI going to allow you to return the MC? Quote
rearview Posted May 22, 2007 Author Report Posted May 22, 2007 Wheel pics as promised... Norm, they said I could return the master kit, if you want it I'll pass it on and save the shipping for you Side view smoothies... from the land of sky blue waters.... Norm's Coupe Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 Looking good Bob. Go ahead and send the MC back. I had the original on my coupe rebuilt right after buying the car. Plus I have another NOS one in the box in the cabinet if I need one in a hurry. I'm trying not to work on brakes and chassis any more. Did that three times now. Was just curious because they claim if you scratch the hubs they won't take those back for any reason. Thanks for the offer though. Quote
rearview Posted May 22, 2007 Author Report Posted May 22, 2007 Ok... figured I offer. I need to clean the garage. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 Forgot to mention. The car looks better with the smoothies IMHO. Good move. As for the garage. I have sort of a never ending project in mine. Trying to make it cleaner looking and keeping it nice and neat. All the walls are covered with white pegboard now. Really brightened up the place. Have 5 double 4 foot shop lights hanging now. Thinking about adding two more. After all, we spend a lot of time in there. May as well make it bright and cheery. Plus, keeping everything off the floor keeps the critters out because they don't have as many hiding places then. Quote
