eh dubya Posted September 23, 2012 Report Posted September 23, 2012 Does anyone have a picture of one or similar? I've some horns from a later car and a bracket for mounting in front of the radiator and dozens of pictures of 39 horns but none clearly show the bracket. Quote
40P10touring sedan Posted September 23, 2012 Report Posted September 23, 2012 (edited) This is of my '40 plymouth, so it may not be exact, but you'll have a reference at least....bolts to the firewall and points the short anfd long horns forward- ...you'll also note that the PO swapped out both the oem horns for these smaller ones but the bracket is correct{I have the oem horns on the shelf}. I can get you a better shot if you want one! Edited September 23, 2012 by 40P10touring sedan Quote
eh dubya Posted September 24, 2012 Author Report Posted September 24, 2012 Bob, thanks for that. It clearly shows the swage to stiffen it that I was missing and wondering how it could be so narrow as to clear the hood props and be stiff enough. -Andy Quote
40P10touring sedan Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 Keep in mind sir that both those "shown" horns are wrong for the car...that metal colored bracket is correct where it is..if you look at the vertical section of the bracket where that odd sideways trumpet is, you can see two holes, each side, on that bracket- two holes for each oem horn to mount on by the large rounded ends. Roadkingcoupe Posted September 25, 2012 Report Posted September 25, 2012 In the picture of the mount the part appears to be correct as found on my 1939 Plymouth Coupe. However in the picture the rear half of the mount is correct but missing a set of plates made of spring steel that isolate the horn from the mount. I can provide a better picture later in the week if necessary. Happy Motoring............ Quote
eh dubya Posted September 26, 2012 Author Report Posted September 26, 2012 Thanks Roadkingcoupe, a better picture would be nice. This is what I have at the moment, the later model bracket with another right angle bracket bolted to it which fouls the hood stays. -Andy Quote
40P10touring sedan Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 Ah, I don't have those 2 insulator brackets for my horns....crud, more stuff to the "things I need" list... Quote
eh dubya Posted September 29, 2012 Author Report Posted September 29, 2012 (edited) I found this pic which fills in the blanks for me, if someone could measure the length and width of the horizontal section I'd much appreciate it. I see I'm missing the trumpet stiffeners. -Andy Edited September 29, 2012 by eh dubya Quote
