montego8 Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 So I decided to put another flat 6 in my 50 dodge. I was going the 318 auto it. I found a 58 Plymouth that runs good and real low miles. I'm going to put all new gaskets on and would like to use the 50 head as it will accommodate the water fitting and allow me to use the original gauge. Are they ,other than the fitting mentioned, the same? Also the water pump and damper pulley stick out to far on the Plymouth and I want to switch them. The water pump is no problem but I can,t see how the pulley comes off the crank on the 50 dodge motor. The Plymouth had a single center bolt and then I put a puller on , it came off easy. The dodge looks different. If I can't fit the dodge damper on the Plymouth:eek: motor I'm screwed. Any info would be great. Dan Quote
54Illinois Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 If the motor runs good...why tear it apart? Quote
Rusty O'Toole Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Some heads and blocks have a bump at the front and an extra water passage. There are 2 different heads, and different head gaskets. This change took place about 1950 or 51 but not all motors got it. Something to look for, it will be obvious if they are the same or not.
