Dale Wray Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 I have a 1948 Dodge 2-door business coupe. What is the closest vehicle to use as the fame to put the body on? My current frame, motor, brakes etc are too far gone to use. I would like to install the body on something since I have purchased all the body parts that were bad and have repaired the interior. Is a S-10 or Ranger, old K-car etc compatible? I know the wheelbase is 119.5" I know there are some VERY experianced builders on here since I have been reading some of the awesome fixes that have taken smarts and experience which I consider I have a little smarts but VERY little experience. Any and all info would be a great help in pointing me in the right direction. Thank you in advance, Dale Wray Quote
Robert Horne Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Several people have used the early Dodge Dakota frames. They have the 5 lug wheels also... Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 I know it is not my business, but I can't help commenting. If you lose the flathead and fluid drive, it isn't the car anymore. Old body on modern frame and engine - it looks like something but it isn't anything... further, as far as I can think, repairing frame is easier than repairing body... Especially for these cars. Thus my advice to find a donor and keep it a D24. It is really great to drive for a car of it's age. Quote
