40P10touring sedan Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 Blueskies, thanks! I'm surprised to see you folks with the one piece hoods getting the rust rings around the plugs too...I expect that for my butterfly type hood set up since the rain/water can run right on thru, but not so much for yours. I admit, my wants for pics are a tad self centered; A) I like seeing the old mopars I like seeing how folks set up their engine compartments{battery/accessory brackets and the like and their locations} Enjoy that fine looking car James and do feel free to put up any more roadtrips that you may happen to do. steveplym Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 With the gaps and holes in the center of the hood they will leak water quite a bit. Young Ed had suggested using a clear silicone bead down the middle of the hood under the molding. I did that last year and it sure helped a bunch. Now 5 and 6 cyl spark plug holes fill up and no more. What I usually do is when I know it will be out in the rain or I wash mine is to put a towel under that back of the hood over the engine. Although I have had to remove the spark plugs and clean the rust off them, as well as repaint the head once this year already. Quote
Robert Horne Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 I bought a new boat tach for my Plymouth, on ebay, about $40, easy to read, works great. Quote
