B-Watson Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 hello, could someone tell me where the chassis number is located on my 1947 desoto coupe, ive found the serial number and the build code plate.thanks, shaun The serial number, stamped on a tag attached to the passenger front door jamb 1931 to mid-1946 and then the driver's door hinge jamb to 1968, is the chassis number. Pre-war cars had it stamped on the top of the chassis frame, right front, just back of the front axle. The engine number was stamped on the left side of the chassis frame. Quote
hemsbydodge Posted March 15, 2012 Author Report Posted March 15, 2012 Hello, well found the answer to my question, it would appear that when the car was new, it was registered on the engine number, not the chassis number, I have some old titles with the car, and they are all the same number, engine number instead of the chassis one, will have to make a number chassis plate to match, as the local registation people(DVLA to use) are very strict on numbers over here, thanks, shaun Quote
