I am not sure that I can explain this correctly, but here goes anyway. As I understand the situation there is a enviornmental dictated change in the engine oil formulations that removes or lowers that amount of zinc that is in the oils, this is OK and does not cause a problem for modern engines, older engines with flat faced tappets need the zinc to prevent galling of the tappets and camshaft surfaces. Both Rotella and Delo will still have the zinc until June of '07, some oil companies will still have the zinc in single viscosity oils, but not in the multibles, like 10-30. I checked with my oil distributor and found that the Duron oil single viscosity oils will continue to have 1100 ppm of zinc, and I am sure there are others that will also, just somthing to be aware of and keep the old flathead happy.
