bob westphal Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Reading the post on Route 66 photos got my memories into high gear. I'm one of those old guys 'that drove 'em way back when'. I grew up with these old cars. My first MoPar was a '40 Dodge sedan I picked up for $40 when I was 17. A few years later (1964) after a number of P-15s, I found myself on the Continental Divide under the hood of a P-15 CC adjusting the timing so that I could get enough power out the old flathead to get over Rabbit Ear Pass. I drove that car five time across the States with no mechanical problems. I loved driving the P-15s then and I still get a big kick out of them now. I can't say that I'm re-living my youth but I can say I trully love the quality, ride and feel of what I feel was one of the best American cars ever built. I am now able to drive a number of cars from the 30s through the present, including the restored '47 DeSoto. I prefer the P-15 over them all! Bob Quote
