Hello I am new to this forum. I have a question that I have not been able to find on the forum history. I would like to install power steering in my 1953 Dodge B4B and I have looked into several options.

I'm not interested in the mustange II front end kit because it lowers the truck body about 4-5 inches. This is not acceptable to me, we like the truck at its orginal height for clearence and usage reasons.

I have also seen the bolt-on rack & pinion kit which looks good and functional, but it looks like you have to add on a extra cross menber to make it work. I don't have a problem with it, but I don't think it will work with a Dodge, because it may hang too low to work correctly. Anyone out there try or set up this kit? Any info please.

The last, and I think the best choice, would be utilizing the 800 saginaw power steering unit out of a 1978 GM product and adapting it to replace the orginal dodge pickup unit. I looks to me like it would work, but I can't find details on anyone who has tried to build this set up. Any info or contacts please?

Sorry for the long post.
