STP in trans rear_end??

On A model Fords many folks put STP intheir trans and rear ends it really does seem to quiet them down some and maks shifting a non syncro. trans better.

Of course these people are in the south mostly- So I was wondering if anyone does that with their plyms or dodges?

Or what other addativies does anyone use in trans or rear? I have heard that Lucas products are good

I put STP in my Jeep trans once, In the winter I had to drive it 2 blocks before I could shift it. I'll never do that again.

The only time I used STP in a gear box was when I had some bad oil leaks I didn't want to fix. They stopped! However, like has been said, shifting was sluggish. The rear end didn't matter.

I've found that once you start using that kind of stuff, you have to keep on using it.

I wouldn't ever use it again.

I'd put it in a rear end if it was getting noisy, until I could fix it properly. I think it might have a bad effect on shifting in a synchro tranny though. Do they still sell STP? Seems like I haven't seen it on the shef in a long time.
