vanbuskirk Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Two years ago, I repaired the windshield in the '54 with glazing caulk. The rubber had separated from the glass. I made a chisel out of wood to lift the rubber, then i squooshed the caulk into the crack. I made the full trip around the glass in about an hour. No leaks. Cheap fix. The caulk is oil base and easily smoothed and cleaned. It is 3M Automotive Bedding and Glazing Compound (Black) #08509. Steele Rubber #96-8509-96. Quote
grey beard Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Commerdial glass shops have butyl sealant in pump cans with a special spout that fits between the glass and rubber - they can go around a windshield in no time flat - AND usually guarantee their work. Quote
