I need a glove box "HINGE" and "LOCK" for a 1948 Desoto dash. Other "MOPAR" glove box hinges may fit this door so I measured the distance between the mounting holes listed below

The part number on the back side of my door is : B 3 2958

The Distance between the "outer" two mounting holes (left to right) are:

9 inches

The Distance between the "inter" two mounting holes (left to right) are:

6 1/2 inches

The distance between the LOCK mounting holes are: 1 1/2

If anyone can help please email me: a277hemi@verizon.net

Thanks

AL

Back when I was looking for parts there were dash parts available on E-bay all the time. Just keep an eye on E-bay, and you should find what you need pretty quickly.

The boxes themselves are now available from a number of different sources. Atlas Obsolete (a bit pricey) has them, and they appear to be the best quality ones I have seen so far. I have yet to buy my new one because the under-dash A/C units say the box would have to be modified, so I am waiting to see if I buy an under-dash or the trunk model A/C when the time comes.

Ed Pauch in Winnipeg makes a number of plastic knobs, etc. and may be making them for Desotos by now, or you could just replace them with a set of Chrysler knobs. I also have a '48 New Yorker which runs and have a bunch of replacement knobs--many of which are NOS.

Right now I am trying to buy a 1954 Chrysler 265 cu with a (two speed) power flite automatic. It is almost a total drop in. Probably have to change the tranny suports, but that is samll compared to what I would have to do with a Chevy 350.

Good luck with your Desoto!!

I recently parted out two '48 Desoto 4dr sdn's... I believe I have a complete glove box door.. I will check my parts.

I have a very nice complete grille, front fender trim and other misc. parts.

I tried to send you a response to your email... my response bounced back to me as undeliverable..
