Shifting as smooth as silk

Since I bought my 50 Plymouth the trans has been wet with oil and caked with dirt in some places (under Coatney). I finally got around to cleaning it this weekend. I used brake cleaner (I like how you don't have to rinse it off). I sprayed the whole thing down including the linkages and used a little elbow grease. When I was done I went for a drive and was SHOCKED  at how smooth it was shifting.

See, ya never know what will help make these old cars do better.:)

Sometimes a coat of grease and oil is a good preservative for metal

parts. But sometimes you don't want that coating.
