ED, was that a hard top hawk I saw or was that a figment of my imagination:)

3rd pic from the top

Close. It's a 1953-55 Studebaker hardtop, the model that became the Hawk in 1956.

A couple of other interesting models are the Hudson Jet in the 3rd photo after the Studebaker hardtop and a 1951 Kaiser in the first photo in the very first message. I like the little Morris Minor.

Hey Bill, you know what gave it away? The hood at that corner to the windshield is bukling, those speedster / hawk bodies will do that. It's a hardtop also, The way those cars age that one does not look that bad. My car was a complete wreck.

Bob, you always seem to fins some interesting cars and trucks. That last car half in half out of that poll shed looks real cool. I like the slop back on it.

Hey Jim, this car is down the street from you. It has a motor in it and it's good. If things don't work out we could have a conversation with the guy.

Shel, did I tell you about the trip to Smithfeild junk yard. WE walk in and these guy's are sitting around waiting for their burgers to get done.:) It's deer burgers. They gaught one over in the ford area and said he did not know what hit him.:rolleyes:umm I guess it was good eaten. They offered however you know city folk they don't know good meat when they smeel it. It did have a pleasent aroma. I just can't bring myself to eat Bambi.

You know that's my bigest fear see some animal that I have trespassed on. Looking at your pic's you go to the junk yard way too late in the season:eek:

Snakes, possuims and skunks are out. A deer is the least of my concerns. You see how nice and clear these yards are?

Those Studebaker hardtops/coupes were rushed into production and as a result had all kinds of misfitting panels, etc., along with rusting designed right in!

That car with the sloping back appears to be a 1938 or 1939 Hudson, and judging by the shortness of the body either a 112 or Terraplane / Six. Amazingly that body was introduced in 1936 and lasted through to 1947, with Hudson revising the front clip or tail end each year before the war.

Bill those Studebakers did have there problems. It's a wonder that they remain popular. As for the rust, you don't have to tell me about that. I grinded, sanded and soaked my car for a long time until I got it to accept paint. I took these two and made one. Unbelieveable;)
