Can anyone give me the proper or best way to install the rear and corner windows? Does the rubber go in the cab opening first, and then work the glass into it? Or does the glass go into the rubber first and then work the whole thing into the opening? Or some other way that I don't see as I study this thing? Got my rubber gaskets at Clester's a little over 6 years ago (yeah, this project was put on a major hold for a while) and it seems to fit the corner openings just fine. Haven't tried the rear center window yet. Help, anyone?

Warren,

If you search the archives, this issue has come up numerous times. The shop manual says to put the rubber on the glass and install it from the outside in. Same for all cab windows. You put a strong cord into the rubber gutter and secure it with masking tape, then butter it up the rubber lips with hand cleaner or dish soap and try your best to pull the rubber lip into the opening while putting pressure on the glass from the outgside. Usually a two-man job, or to be more politically correct, a "two-person job."

Archival threads reveal that the corner windows are the worst beast of the herd to get in, and that several have had better success with installing the glass from the inside out, especially the corner windows. If you study the construction of the rubber, it doesn't seem to matter which way they are installed, just so you get the one lip over the pinch weld of the sheet metal.

Good Luck. Let us know what worked best for you. :)

I went from the inside and pulled the rubber out. This will probably be the worst job on the truck to do! Nothing short of hateful. I really think the key is the quality of the rubber seal. If it's soft and pliable it will pop in like the front. But I have never found one and I used two. Good luck
