Guest rapidfire7 Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 I'm sure that this has been answered before, but I cannot seem to find what I am looking for: Either a NAPA or Spicer # for the U joints on the drive shaft of a 48 B1B-108? Actually a Dodge number might help also if they can cross reference it. I tried looking in the master parts directory but the numbers are insanely confusing and there are about a billion of them! Thanks for the help. Shawn Barrows Quote
48WingNut Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 I've found my NAPA guys here in Michigan to be very helpful. I'd just run down there or give them a call, and tell them the model of your truck. They should be able to tell you if they can get them. Hope that helps. 48WN Quote
Guest rapidfire7 Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Thanks WingNut, The guys in Michigan must have different catalogs than in SD. Their NAPA book only went back to 1960 for U Joints and the Spicer catalog lists only 1 tons and PW,s for 48. There is however numbers for B2C and B2D for 1950. Do you know if they are the same as in 48? Quote
48WingNut Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Well I haven't checked on U-joints at all but carb rebuild kits, oil filters and such are still in their system. I'll drop by in the next couple of days and see if they can help and maybe atleast get you some numbers. 48WN Quote
48WingNut Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Rapidfire....I just left you a private message about u-joints. Quote
daimlerchryslerman Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Hi there, I believe the original part # was 1238415. It may also change up but I am at home now. If you want me to find out if it does supercede the I can do it at work Thursday. Napa and also Lordco stores can cross reference the OE part #s Hope this helps. Ray Morris Quote
48WingNut Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Ok....I checked with my NAPA guy here in Michigan about the u-joints. Their books only go back to 1950 for the B-1-B & B-1-C trucks so if they will work for the 48's then the number they gave me was 210-1200 and run about $13 each. For the 48 1 tons the books go back to 1948 and the part number is 210-1300 and run about........(gulp) $51! So i'm guessing that the 210-1200 number would work on the 48's. Hope this helps! 48WN Quote
Mike Meade Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Hey Guys,Just a reminder that they used both Spicer and Cleveland U-joints on 48 B1B's,Make sure you are getting the right ones.I found out the hard way.Mike Quote
48WingNut Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Hey Mike........is there away to tell if we have a spicer or cleveland u-joint? 48WN Quote
Mike Meade Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Mine was stamped on the body of the u-joint (Cleveland),just had to scrape about 60 years of grease and dirt to see it. Mike Quote
Guest rapidfire7 Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 Hey Mike, Good call! After scraping off the crud, I found that it is stamped "CLEVL" but the number on it is unreadable. I will supply the parts guy with the info and maybe that will help. Quote
Guest rapidfire7 Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 Thanks Ray for the reply. I'll check out this number with the parts guy. Quote
