I took the time and read all the posts and websites about making the JC Whitney universal float work in my D30 single wire fuel gauge. In general it sounded easy but there were a few steps that got left out.

The first ? was when I read "remove the existing float and float arm". Sounds straight forward but I couldn't figure an easy way to do that.

Second ? came when an author said remove original rheostat housing. Again simple enough but breaking the spot welds were a bit troublesome. In trying to break the welds with a chisel I bent and pierced the original cover. I was able to straighten it up and seal the hole with a little solder.

I did get everything apart and back together. I now have a funtioning fuel gauge. It is off a little bit but that is probably because the new float arm is just a hair longer than the original. Something I can probably tweak but not so bothersome that I am in a hurry to take it apart again.

I want to thank all those that have gone before me and solved this problem for the rest of us.
