well after figuring out fuel issue..i got new 218 running..

starts first bump..idles good..sometimes get a pop from carb..gona check valves tomorow...

A few concerns i'm gona take up with machine shop

1. When i took it in to be rebuilt..they called me and said something about the crank needing welding?? they said no big deal they do it all the time..so i took their word..

Well i notice a good wobble from crank dampner..and also oil coming from rear of eninge(between engine and bell housing so i'm assumming rear seal..probably cuz crank is bent or something?)

2. Do they pay for my labor to take out and them to fix?

3. Im mad

4. the end..

Any advice..or tips? before i sell everything cheap...

think the pop was from the timing. retarded timing a bit and seemed to go away....

My main concern is the oil leaking from the rear of engine..the leak seems to be coming from more on the passenger side...and just a few drops when i shut it off...i looked up between engine and bell housing and cant tell where its leaking..very deceiving....anyone else have any ideas? thanks

Check the valve tappet covers under the manifold, and the road tube to see if that is dripping and the gasket around the oil pump. May be a real easy fix! They probably had to weld the crank in order to build up one or more journals due to wear. Mike

o i found the oil leak..wasnt a rear main..thank goodness..i noticed the fuel pump was leaking oil ..and it was going down the oil pan to passenger side rear of engine...

Well I bought a good gasket and solved that problem..

Now it runs great....
