i did my install of the JC Whitney sending unit today; i couldn't use my factory sending unit top, so i made my own. (i'd ruined it cobbling up other stuff). i made two; the first was a little too large and instead of trying to whittle a 16th off i just cut another smaller one. i had to substitute a thick urethane washer for the soft rubber one since the metal was thinner than the Datcon unit piece. followed their directions other than that, it went together easily and VOILA i can tell how much gas i have in the tank now!

i CANNOT recommend this piece any more highly. if your sender is telling lies, replace it!

now for the brakes..... and the paint...

the smallest victories encourage more endeavours!

I suppose that your sender is a one wire sender, not the two wire that the P15 used which have two coils in the guage, each reading a half of a tank and require a sender with two wires from the sender to the guage plus a ground wire? I have been told that the one wire sender from J.C.Whitney will not work on a P15.

true; but i have a good two-wire that i will let you have for exactly what it cost me. the seller mistook the year i requested and i'm not arguing the point with him over it.

i've had more than my share of dodgy (HAH!) fuel gauges; been put afoot more than once.... would hate to have to walk away from the Cambridge in this area. don't believe it would still be there when i got back......

I first bought a one wire sender from Whitney. The price was right....about

$20 at the time 3 or 4 years ago. Someone had said it worked on a P15....

wrong.....so we found out. I was fortunate and traded it to another guy

who had a Dodge and had bought the two wire item from Atwater Kent.

We were both happy.:) :)

I don't know what senders are needed for the newer Plyms.
