Subject: 1951 Plymouth P-23 engine. I'm in search of an engine to rebuild while still driving my car this summer. Question: Are there any differences from a standard shift (mine) and the fluid drive crank flange etc? Question: What year spread and brands (Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge, Plymouth) should I look for in a donor vehicle? Thanks in advance, Don
Thanks for the link that's great info. New to this vintage of MOPAR's and I would have never guessed there was big variations of crank flange spacing. Gonna have to do some research surfing on his site.
I'm on the way to making a deal on a 51 Plymouth 2 door hardtop that is a six tear old restoration. It's all stock drive train with a manual 3 speed I would like to swap a Torqueflite into it. My clutch leg has gone bad so it is a necessary evil. I'm finding kits for Chevy trans but I really want to stay all MOPAR. Thanks in advance for the help.
