  4. Well seeing how i havent bought the replacement moter yet kinda hard to measure ....was looking to see if anyone had done the swap on here just get get some insight
  5. Yea have done many v8 swaps before...guess my main question was if the firewall needed to be cut/notched
  6. Stay in chat??? Sorry kinda new to this site
  7. Thats why i posted a question about a v8 swap.....those i know in and out lol.....if not we may just send this old dodge down the road and find somthing else to play with ( father son project)
  8. No i havent....this is the first flathead i have ever worked on....gimmie a SBC or detroit diesel cummins n14 or any other diesel im your guy lol.....just i dont know much on these lil flatheads
  9. I have been looking online for a diagram of the plug wires on the cap with no luck...
  10. I did have the dizzy out when i put new points in....its possable i went back in 180 out....but wouldent it back fire or pop through the carb if that was the case
  11. Prior to pulling the head.....the motor was stuck would not roll over could not get a reading
  12. Not sure....we pulled the intake and exhaust manifold off last night......like i said it rolls over but wont hit a lick....im getting spark, i looked down the carb i had gas puddling up in the intake and i dont think im getting gas to the plugs
  13. Not sure how to post pics here.....when we had the head off it was rolling over and all the valves were opening and closing....
  14. So my son and i found a 53 b3b that has sat in a garage for 42 years, after we got it home of course the motor was froze up (218ci) from sitting so long, after removing the head and getting the motor to turnover we were pretty stoked....well after a new head gasket head bolts fuel pump rebulit carb plugs wires points etc etc...we could not get the ole boy to start not even hit like it wanted to start....after a compression check we have 2 cylinders that are very low. We now are thinking about doing a v8 swap.does anyone make mounts for these cool old trucks? With a v8 swap do you have to cut the firewall? Thanms in advance
