  1. Thanks guys, Having checked again, formate is stamped on the old ring gear, 8 1/4" dia. The replacement set is identical to the old set apart from the gear thickness so when it is installed and I make the sideways adjustment it locks up. All the bearing sizes are identical. On the old ring gear after the numbers there is a capital A stamped within a circle. The old ratio was 41-1, I ordered 39-1, as I had a choice. The guys at vap.inc (suppliers) say both the 41-1 and 39-1 are the same thickness. Could the heavy duty set be for a military WC. Have you any ideas where I can go from here??? PLEASE!! Thank you all for your time and knowledge, Regards, Ted
  2. Thank you for that info. I wanted confirmation that I have the correct rear end in the truck because..... Vintage auto parts inc sent me a replacement ring gear and pinion set, but when I came to install it, I noticed that the ring gear was thicker than the original, therefore would not adjust correctly. It is thicker by 1/8 of an inch. They have been very helpful but insist they have sent the right parts. So that is my problem, can you help me further? Thanks, Ted
  3. Here in England we have a very original '47 Dodge wc truck. It came over from Ca last year. I have a problem with the rear end, I need to replace the pinion and ring gear, so we need to identify the differential to get the correct parts. These are the numbers I have found Ring gear. 'ormate' 41.1 1192364 346-R5 11 Pinion 2-4-47 41.1 1192365 MS 419 UI Differential 1092043 (one side) 1092045(other side) Can any of you guys identify this diff so I can get the correct ring gear and pinion. It also may help that the rear axle looks original and has 11" drum brakes. The front drums are 10", is this normal? Hope you can help an old English man get his truck on the road, I have only driven it in and out of the workshop!! Thank you, Ted
