  1. Dave72dt, thanks for the info. I suspected the box was not original. Maybe some old Ford restorer will want it, old being the Ford, not the restorer.
  2. Some more pics. Can any one tell me if the cab roof lights and the blinkers on the fenders are original?
  3. Here's some pics of the bed, pretty sure it's a add on. Also pretty sure it's coming off and a flat bed will be going on.
  4. That's also what I think, the tail gate is a ford. I'll get some closer pics today.
  5. That's one of the things that attracted me.
  6. Some pics of the move.
  7. trying to figure out the pic posting here
  8. Wow! That was quite a read. Thanks for all the input and sorry I haven't replied, but life gets in the way. Great info on the considerations of converting "Her" to a diesel in both the physical and physiological. I must confess, this is my first 4 wheel project, (or 6) as all I've ever worked on for "fun" has been 2 wheeled, so maybe the diesel thing would be far fetching and end up being a pile of parts. I don't need to use her as a truck, I own a 2003 Dodge Duelly Diesel that is my workhorse and that "She" really is a "WorkHorse" I now feel I will pursue getting her running as she is and leaving the option of conversion for down the road. Another consideration is, when I bought "Dee Dee" (Double D") my close friend was going to work with me. We were to use his shop. Unfortunately, he passed this last March and the shop is no longer available to me. After reading what some of you have said about the amount of work involved in a swap, I've decided I'd need to build a shop before building the truck, and that ain't happening any time soon. I'll mess with her later this fall before it gets to cold out and jump into it next spring. I'm going to enjoy her for what she is and can always do a convert later. Thanks for all the great insight!! I'm positive I'll be asking for more help soon. Bill
  9. Thanks for the replies. Never thought much about calling my trucks he's or she's but all my machines are named with "female" names for some reason. Don't think I'm going change that way of thinking at this late point of my life. History of the truck as I know it is, the guy I bought her from said, she sat on the side of the road in Ludlow, Ma as a advertisement sign for a ice cream shop. On the doors it says "Double D Dairy Bar" I'm thinking, who doesn't like Double D's? He bought her and moved into one of his barns and she sat for 20 years. I'm toying with the idea of moving the cap onto a Dodge 3/4 or 1ton Cummins powered frame. Would that be sacrileges? Or just tinker with her and see if I can get her running and road worthy.
  10. Hey TrampSteer, thanks for the info. I'll check that out. So much going on with this truck, I haven't been able to take it all in yet. I'm still trying to figure out which way to go with her. Should I try to keep her as stock as possible or start doing custom work? That's the first hurdle to jump. I'm considering doing a custom interior but leave the exterior pretty much the way it is now with some repairs, trying to rebuild the OEM drive train. The cab interior seems all to buggered up to make it original. She's got a 4 speed, are they common? Someone removed the original gas tank and cut a new hole for a different tank. As soon as I figure out the picture posting thing, I'll put up a bunch of shots.
  11. Just got her home. Title states she's a 48 but the Dodge Truck ID site states she's a 50. I mostly believe the ID site. I've tried attaching a picture of her resting in her barn that she was in for the last 20 years, but the file is to large. Going to have to spend some time learning how to upload pics here. PO says she ran when he put her in the barn. How can I nail down her birth year? How can I tell if the work body is original OEM or a add on? The tailgate is a ford gate, but I'm wondering about bed? So far I'm in need of a headlight, but I'm sure I'll be looking for many more parts and lots of help.
