  1. Hi Merle, sounds like the same problem, my pistons are locked solid, you can see the corrosion on the bores encroaching onto the rings/pistons. I’d like to keep the engine in it, but don’t know if I’m thinking illogically, a replacement would be better but I would need to assess what I have properly I guess. Many thanks for your reply though
  2. Hi everyone, It’s been quite a while since I’ve been on here. life got in the way as it does unfortunately. I’m trying to find a way forward with my truck engine, the head measures 23inches, so assume it’s the 218, not the 230? It’s seized in the bores, so I either need to source another engine, or a block, I’d guess resleeving isn’t financially sensible. I’d be willing to pay for an engine and arrange shipping to the UK. I just can’t find one this side of the pond. Any help would be greatly appreciated regards Jon
  3. Hi All, I was advised to start a new topic, but this is kinda the same route as i'm taking so Vini and myself might ask some of the same questions. One of the questions has already been partly answered, lowering the suspension, I didn't know whether to update running gear, now I have it physically at home, it seems a shame not to keep as much as I can original. I'd like to know where I can get engine parts? I'm presuming most are still obtainable due to the length of time, and numbers produced. The downside is, I live in the UK, I've had mine shipped over, although the worlds a small place now. Regards Jon
  4. Hi everyone, I've recently bought a 48 Pilothouse, and shipped it to the UK, I know very little about the engine (Flathead) but think I should start by assessing wether or not its worth rebuilding. It's currently locked up, believed to be from being sat for a long time. Initial inspection is, it generally looks complete, plugs are loose, presume someones had a play prior to me buying it, fan belt is old, but far from perished/hard, that would suggest it might have been turning in the last few years. I would like to think its worth saving, and if it is, are the parts available to rebuild, and where's the best place to go? I'll stop asking questions now, I have many more to ask, but don't want to 'overkill' early on. Many thanks in advance, Jon
