  4. The frame is pretty solid Actually... I just has a weird tan scales ? Not much pitting to note of A wire brush seems to take care of it Anyone come across this tan scaly rust . There are some stalagmites show up on the body Justin

  6. Being stuck in the Middle of a 7 day stretch of the Midnight shift, And working on some Tig Welding side work... I haven't had any time to work on the 48! Guys if this was your project what would you start with first ?? Here are my Plans for the truck again. Mopar 318 with a four barrel Carb & Auto tranny (Still need to find a Motor and Trans) Have front Axle stretched (4" drop") disc brake conversion up front, with Power brakes. Modern rear Axle, mounted on top of the Leafs. C-Notch the Frame. Rust repair/Patch Panels for anything larger than a Golf Ball. Reinforce/rework front Cab Body Mounts. (Some rot in the Driver side in Particular.) Update wiring system. Clear coat original paint. Here are pics of the mounts Is it possible to find this driver side floor board Panel ? Anyone have one for sale ? Thanks for all your support thus far ! Justin

  8. We'll we got all the drums off Puller did the trick Looking at the condition of the drums and shoe' s, this may indeed be a 30,000 mile truck. As read on the odometer. Yep that's a good idea I will end up putting a modern rear end in the truck
  9. Alright !! The old girl is home safe and sound ! Now let's try and get them drums off Don't worry I have 10" of clearance from the beam ... Any tips on getting the drums off ?

  11. Here's what I'm working with .. Looks like the bulk of the rust repair will be in the rear qrtr's and wheel wells . The plan is to fix any rot larger that a golf ball and preserve the patina as is .

  14. Yep ok ! Im gonna do a mopar engine ! Even Mr Hopkins convinced me to keep it Mopar Probable a 318 With a 727 Anyone have an idea what I would get for gas mileage ? We have the truck dug out and rolling I will post more pics of today's events ASAP

  16. The name is Justin I'm 35 years old and live in Hudson Wi I've been a welder and fabricator for 15 years. I specialize in tig welding I love 50's cars a truck's, rat rods as well Also vintage Harley's This seems like a great forum ! My projects are 75 scout 2 58 f100 And now a 48 pilot house panel truck I've been eyeing this 48 panel truck for 10 years now Finally Mr Hopkins said I could buy it for a fair price 800.00 He has always wanted over twice that The truck has been parked since 79 Do to a hot spot in the motor from a cracked block repair For being sunk in the ground for years, the truck is in a solid condition .... Doors are in great shape,open and close sweet Floors are solid Wood bed is not rotted The panel truck has two dents - one the size of a baseball Some rot through on the lower rear qrtr's I get to dig it out of there this Sat! My plan for the truck is to .... Lower it 4" Disc brakes up front Chevy 350 Turbo 400 Patch panels in all rotted area's Clear coat on the original paint I will post my pics as I'm digging this gem out.. What do you guys think ?
