  1. My 300ZX Twin Turbo even though its a 3L 6 cyl cracks the 180kph ( approx 120mph) speed cut in nothing at all... damn speed cut Last time I had it on the Dyno, (stock of course) I made 173.8kW which converts to 232.97HP Apparently the magic number to hit for these cars with simple bolt on mods eg intake , exhaust, fuel management and turbo upgrade is 250kW which is still only 335HP Fair enough the competitors have an extra 2 cyl and the bore and stroke might be a little bit bigger but to make 5 times more power than what a modifieded 6cyl TT makes they must have more dollars than sense:eek:
  2. Well I think the idea is good but definitely some development needed, a friend of mine had a 53 Desoto but never eventuated we were going to run a series of overrider's in the grill insert like teeth, sad that the car was sold off... I had a bit of a play around with the bumper (pardon my windows paint hacker skills) and though that if you removed the chrome strip from the hood and raised the new style insert up to meet the chrome strips around the corner lamps it would look pretty cool and give a more open "mouth" which would beef up the front end and make it look a little angry. Mind you there would be a bit of fabrication involved but i reckon it would look heaps better, no offense but as it stands the focal point is the center bullet and right now it looks as though your car is trying to eat it but its getting stuck on its retainer?
  3. I wish there were more around here, there is a guy in one of the southern states here that deals in pre 50's Chrysler Dodge etc parts... but he knows that parts are scarce and charges like a woulnded bull for anything that you order, a break cylendar and a right rear door locking mechanisn cost me a packet for what there are. RobertKB, I have had a pic of your car for years and thought (no offence to anyone else) that it was one of the best examples I have seen, just picked it up of google images, what I really liked about it was that the chromework has been finnished with the red enamel striping.... sooo cool My D25 looks somewhat like your before photo yet with all of the accesories.. all the glass, all the trim all the pannels, no rust bar a small patch in the passanger floor pan nothing seriouse, last registered in 1966 it still has the rego sticker and the owners manual has insurace slips for a couple of years during the 50's ... ooooh nostalgia Its a slow process but I would like my car looking rather retro... going with a dropped stance maybe bagged but gotta think of the $$$ I wont chop it as i just dont think 40's cars should be chopped for some reason ... 30's and 50's go for your life ... but 40's come off looking a little wierd in my oppinion. The body will be re done in a glossy black and a red velvet interior ... its got a great interior but the leather is a tad beaten up it just gets too darn hot in there in summer so the leather lounge has to go. ( I toyed with the leopard print idea, but that screamed pimp, so i canned that) Im planning on keeping the original rims and running them as a red with whitewalls topped off with the chrome dress ring ... I'd love to get one of those visors that you see on the Chevy Fleetmatsters... you know the kind that they have on the Low riders, they are bad ass. I dont want to physically, chop section or french anything on my car just lower the stance and make it look nice. Maybe one day I could shoehorn a 426 Hemi into it ... but that can wait till my retirment I guess
  4. Hi every one, New to this forum and thought I would introduce myself. I own a 48 D25 Special Deluxe (4 door) and I live just north of Sydney Australia. I bought my Dodge for my 21st birthday as a "fixer upper" and in the 7years I have owned it have only driven it a handful of times. Restoring a car on blue collar wage and running a Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo as my daily driver is rather expensive (all my friends had Jap imports) but the project has never faded from my mind. I love anything with a chop top and white walls still should come as a factory option. Even though I am an Aussie and the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car I hope to pick your brains for tips while I restore my car as there aren't that may authoritarians around here for my style of ride. Of a matter of fact I have only ever seen 1 other in real life and 2 in the Trading Magazines. I tried joining a classic car club but there was 30-40 years difference between me and the rest of the members and they didn't like the " young pup" messing around in their old mans business. So I hope that you guys are cool and don't have issues with people that don't restore their cars to concourse condition cause I feel that your car is an extension of your personality and no one wants to have the same as the other guys ... unfortunately you just cant do that in a Toyota Pryus
