  1. Thanks everybody, I'll check out that second adjustment
  2. I have a 1951 Windsor motor in my 1952 Dodge B3C truck and can't seem to get the timing right. I've line up the crank and camshaft zeros on the chain. The problem is the distributor has to be all the way over to one of the stops just to get it to run. I would assume that should be more in the middle of the adjustable range than all the way to one end. If the end of the distributor shaft had gears it would be like it's off by a tooth or two, but this doesn't have gears it's a tab into a slot, 180 is the only adjustment I have. I also tried shifting the plug wires over one spot that that doesn't help. What's the proper procedure to get the crank, camshaft and distributor aligned? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks John
  3. I am replacing the head gasket on the flat head motor in my Dodge B3C. The motor is a 1951 Chrysler Windsor 251. This is the second time I've had to replace the head gasket. Both times it blew at the top of the cylinder walls between the first and second cylinders. I have a couple of questions 1. Should I use a gasket sealant? The old Motors book I have for this motor said to use it but I've heard other people tell me not to. 2. The book also said to torque down the head bolts after the engine has run and is hot. The recommended torque is 70# what should I torque them to before I start it up to get it hot? I assume that if I torque them down while the engine is cold they will be over torqued when hot. Thanks up front for any comments
  4. It's time to put the engine for my '52 B-3-C back together, I blew the head gasket a couple of years ago, but I'm not sure what year engine I have. When I bought the truck the previous owner had changed the engine, he told me it was a 1937 flathead, but someone else thought it was closer to a late 50's or early 60's. The number on the block is C51-46209. What do I have?
