You are probably right but being a long time VW Bug rescuer this is BIG!! I had the body on a home made dolly we used to restore my sons 65 bug and it pretty much has died after this last move. I will be retiring it as it has earned it's rest.
-
The engine is the standard 217.8 cu. in. and the tranny is a 3 speed w/o overdrive.
-
Well after much effort the body is back on the frame. I had forgot how big and heavy it was. I will need several days to got my back better, but worth it! I still need to get it lined up and tied down, hopfully the doors will open and close again.

I have decided to donate to any member needing the following. You will have to come and get it but I will help you load. 1947 Plymouth engine, tranny, drive shaft and rear axle. The engine is locked up and does not run but is complete as is tranny and axle. Let me know if you need it. Contact me thur this site or at kkaiser001@ec.rr.com

Thanks Tim, good to hear from you. If I can get both my sons together this weekend I think we will get it done. Look for my next post and spread the word or let me know if you need it.

After too long we are ready to try and get the body back together with it's frame. Hope to get the time this weekend.

Speaking of the tires that got away. After picking the parts up from Tim I got around 30 miles from Wilmington when I looked in the rear view mirror and saw one escaping from my trailer. I watched helplessly as it followed me for a while and then made a left and crossed over the divided highway crossed over two more lanes and headed for the woods. I think it is hunting season as it fortunately did not venture into the woods too far. Needless to say I stalked it down and got it back into the trailer.

I am putting in a 91 Explorer rear axle right now in my Bus coupe. It has the 3.55 gear setup that wont be a problem since I plan on running a 318 Poly. I purchased new spring perches that are the same size as on the original axle so with a little mods and less grinding I will be able to use the same bottom plate with the shock setup. That's the plan anyway.

Thanks Andy, Sounds like I got the prefered year setup. Good info on the trans I was hoping that It could be changed over to a slip yoke. So it's a 727 right? With the engine being a 64 would it be better to upgrade to a newer trans (LA) or keep what I got?

Is there a way to convert the tail peice to a U joint? I am going to run a newer rear axle with Emerg. brake.
-
The numbers on the block are as follows. 2468230 12.29.64 I cant find any numbers on the Tranny but did use a magnet on it and the only thing it stuck to was the brake drum on the tail peice.

Well I picked the Poly up today. I could not resist, Super clean turns nice and smooth. It turns out to be a 64 318 all there except for the alt bracket and alt, and a fuel pump. Hope to do a compression check on it in the next few days. I hope for the best since I have been a blind squirrel for a while, maybe this is my nut! Who knows!

Anybody have any ideas on getting new body mount rubber or using somthing other than the stock rubber to replace it with? I have all the OG mounts but the rubber is shot. Let me know!
