  1. Seems to be fixed now idleing at 550. The main issue i believe was fuel hose debris inside the Idle Air tube. Thinking of putting it in the ultrasonic cleaner to shiney it up.
  2. I had tried this several times but no chg. I finally got a bump in idle around bottom of float bowl. I removed the top when oweshit hot and had air bubbles coming up in the bowl so I will have to replace all the copper washers again. Thanks for the help!
  3. Well maybe a terminology issue here, I thought most carbs were down draft. Up draft is the weird one where the carb horn or opening is pointed downward so it has to pull air upward. Anyway it is a Stromberg and the one with the dash pot rod. So yea I guess I'll be pulling it again to clean the throttle plate and air idle port. I do hear noise from the fuel entering the carb throat. It sounds like the fuel is frying and hissing noises.
  4. I put a carb kit in it from eBay. I did blow cleaner thru all jets and ports. It has a Daytona idle jet in it so supposed to have low float height. As far as sitting you asked, I just bought it in Dec 23 and looks like ign tuneup was done but not the carb. New gas tank and E pump. I thought the pump was dieing after hot so I put a new E pump at tank and a new mech pump on the engine. I have a pressure gauge at the carb to monitor. Cold it's 6psi, looks to drop to 3psi when hot - even at 50 deg outside. It did idle when I bought it. It did not like the choke messed with to crank..even cold- liked 1/4 choke all the time. Now after rebuild it runs best at 1/2 choke plate at idle 900-1000 rpm. When driving it pulls best with choke open full. It will bog at 1/4 to 1/2 open.. like normal. New plugs, cap/rotor, points look new. No arching wires. Thx for any ideas here I may have missed.
  5. I've been going thru carb and ignition for several weeks intermit, and for the life of me can't find a solution. Stromberg down draft carb. On first ride w wife.. lol.. the eng stalled at at a 4 way. After several restarts I realized the idle was in op but I could get home with throttle mgmt. After cleaning carb only horn and middle body, nothing's really better. After warm, it needs 3/8 closed choke plate to idle yet a little hi. Less choke and it stumbles, too little it dies. I have adj the float from 1/4 to 5/8 from top edge. Changes choke required, but no fix. I assume it's lean wanting less air but smells rich in garage. I also adj the idle screw from 1/4 to 3 out, slight change but no remedy. I have ign parts ordered but most are only 4 mos old. I do need to clean the points tho. Ideas to check out?
  6. Great input thank you! So I did some more testing and this is what I have found. The terminal on the sender has 94ohms to ground with 7+ gal fuel. So that's my E reading. If I go sender wire to gound the gauge pegs F so I guess wire and gauge good. I have power on the SW term on gauge as well. So this means the sender is faulty or bad ground idk. The top plate around the one terminal on sender unit does have continuity to ground.
  7. Ok thanks. I got my shop manual back out and yep I see that now. Thanks for the help!
  8. Sorry I probably didn't ask it clearly. Where does the other wire on the fuel gauge go to? One goes to the tank sending unit. where is the second wire on the other terminal on fuel gauge go to. I tested it for ground and nothing.
  9. Ok so maybe my gauge is ok. I read 24 ohm across the two terminals. The tank and sending unit are new so maybe the wire from tank is bad or hooked up incorrectly idk. Guess I'll have to drop the tank to sort this out. Where does the other terminal wire go to? I have one new wire from the tank, and the other is original.
  10. Ok thanks I'll check on these hopefully today if it will warm up, dang it.
  11. Hello all, I acquired a B3B in Dec and am trying to go thru previous repairs and changes performed by PO. My battery is hooked up as a 6v neg ground. I think it was originally a + ground ? What changes would have had done to make this work? My only real current issue is no fuel gauge reading and - reading on amp gauge when running. This is a 51 with working foot starter.
