  1. Oh wow that's awesome! That's super rare! Took me a while to find appropriate plates for my 1950 Chrysler.
  2. Hi! You need to drill a hole into the weld, just on one side. Then you can bend the housing slightly to move the inner coil. Keep in mind, though, that bending it back and rewelding can be quite difficult.
  3. Hey! I'm from Germany too. Got an 1950 Imperial.
  4. I now finished my project. Just wanted to let you know everything works fine now. New wire, sandblasting, painting, refurbished the 6v relay.
  5. Thanks a lot for this video! Great idea. I'll keep you updated.
  6. @Dansk yes that might be a possible solution. I was hoping to find someone who has experience in rewinding these coils. Maybe I'll give it a try.
  7. Hello everbody, this is my first topic here. I'm currently working on my 1950 Chrysler Imperial. After i got it back on the road, the starter stopped working. I began to rebulit it but now it looks like the Pull-in Coil is broken. I have to push the plunger a little with my hand, then it is attracted by the magnetic force. Maybe some windings have lost their insulation? This raises two possible scenarios: 1. Buying a new solenoid... -> Seem to be impossible. I can't find a similar solenoid. 2. Rebuilt the coil myself. Has anyone ever done this and perhaps has some helpful tips for me? The original part (Autolite SSX 4101 6V 8E) There was also a version 15-40 Chrysler 1343695 that was intended to serve as a spare part. Best regards Mirko
