  1. Well it took longer then I planned but finally got this thing back to my place! Hooked onto it with a chain and pulled it right out no issues Checking into all my options at the moment and contemplating a s10, Dakota, or possibly even a 2nd Gen 2wd 2500 Cummins frame swap. Obviously the 2500 would need the frame shortened but the 2wd versions are dirt cheap up here
  2. Thanks! It sure made for some confusion trying to figure out exactly what I had. My plan is to try and save that engine first but sadly the hood was off when I found it so who knows how many years of rain/snow has gone through that carb and oil tube into the pan haha. Will be interesting to tear into it and see though
  3. Thanks for the welcome! It’ll definitely be a slow and steady project, thankfully I do all my own mechanical and fab/welding but there will definitely be some time put into this haha. I doubt I’ll ever have the body good enough for paint so will more than likely clear over everything once I add the few patches it needs. Will make for a cool story explaining that’s how I found it anyway
  4. Hey everyone! Found this form after searching for info on my newest project. Took the dog for a walk back in a neighbours field a little while ago and came across this fairly complete 1951! After running the vin it’s coming back as a DG1, I’m not terribly knowledgeable in older trucks, I’m more of a late 60s/70s guy but it’s a Canadian built truck so maybe that’s why the model is different. Regardless it’s in surprisingly good shape for something that’s sat outside for as long as it has, frame is all solid and the body only needs a few patches. Worst of the rust is around where the windshield rubbers would go which will be a pain to repair but doable. Best part is when I asked my neighbour about it he said I could just have it! Engine is more then likely done from sitting uncovered so not sure what I’ll do for a power train but that’s pretty far off in the future anyway He mentioned there’s also a C series half ton and 2 ton stake truck back there if I need any parts. The half ton is beyond saving, had a tree grow right up threw the cab but the frame looks crazy solid, the 2 ton is in amazing shape but is so big I don’t really know what I’d do with it besides maybe using some engine parts Hope to learn lots on here and keep everyone updated on my new money pit, have a few other projects (foxbody mustang, Kawasaki kz1000, and some Harley stuff) so progress probably won’t be crazy fast but hopefully won’t be too bad!
