They don't list hardly any parts for my 48 Plymouth, but there is a whole bunch of stuff listed for a 48 Dodge. Might try a different model or something.

I am putting my motor back together and need the part number for the h-style rear main seal. I have the rope type seals that came with the gasket set from NAPA, but I cannot use this kind because I do not have the rope retainers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This picture shows the kind of seal I need. I stole the picture from Don.

did you remember to flash the field after installing the generator? I am not sure what difference that makes but every book I have read recommended it.

Drive mine to work every day. I think the guys at work are referring to me as the young kid with the old car. Kinda cool because my dad has always been known as the old guy with the old car. Funny how that works, huh?

Well, the casters are definately neat, but the CAR looks awesome. Doesnt look like you will need those skates for very long.

Well, I just got an email back from Newport and she said all they have to do is put a different bracket on the wiper motor and it should work with the factory radio. Thanks guys.

I was looking into buying an electric wiper motor for the coupe from Newport Engineering and they have two different kits. One kit is for cars originally with vacuum wipers, but you cant use the factory radio box, I guess for interference. Then other kit is for cars originally with electric wipers, but you can keep the radio with no problems. So.... my question is.... are the mounting brackets the same or would the kit for the originally equipped electric wipers not fit on my Plymouth? While we are on the topic, is there any way to tell if the wrist pin has gone bad or worn out? I don't want to tear my engine apart if I don't have to, but I hear a weird noise every now and again, and with this being my first really old car I am not used to the different kind of noises it makes.

For those of you that have tried to convert your car to 12 volt and didn't know exactly what to do with you gas gauge, I hope this helps. You can order a Runtz type resistor from Speedway Motors or run to your local Radio Shack and pick up a voltage regulator. The installation for either of them is pretty straightforward. Input (12v wire originally connected to gauge), output (6v, goes to gauge), and ground (connect under gauge mounting screw). Voila! Your done! Part number for the Runtz type resistor from Speedway Motors - 91064101 Part number for Voltage Regulator from RadioShack - 7805 I have used both of these, and I will say that the Runtz type resistor is nice, but if you don't completely wrap it in electrical tape it is possible to arc it off of something and it will fry the internals. There went $20. The cheapo regulator from RadioShack cost $2. and they are pretty much idiot proof.

Fuel and spark! And Voila. If it was sitting that long, I would check the fuel tank and lines for crud before anything else. Looks like a great start though. And your brake cylinder and master cylinder rebuild kits are available at your local NAPA store. Pretty cheap too, I might add.
