Hey all - I could use some help...
I've installed an offy dual carb manifold on the 218 in my '40 Dodge coupe. I have a couple of rebuilt Stromburg BXVD-3 carbs installed, and I'm using Fenton split exhaust manifolds.
When I crank the engine I'm getting fuel leaking from both carbs. I believe the bulk of the leaking is around the throttle shafts, but one carb is ending up with fuel on the underside for the bowl. (These carbs were supposed to have had new throttle shaft bushings installed.)
My initial thought was that I'm getting too much fuel pressure to the carbs, but I have an Aeromotive regulator installed. The pressure is cranked down to 1.5 psi, and still I have fuel coming out.
Also of note - this is the second set of carbs that I've had on the engine. I had a pair of rebuilt Holley 847s installed, and they were also leaking fuel.
Starting to think something else is amiss, but not sure. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!!
