The after. Chip DeSon's '48 convertible is nearing completion. The car was originally purchased by his father, then abandoned in the backyard in the early '60's. In high school (circa 1968-71) Chip got it running again. Five years later he completed an "on-the-frame" restoration. The car stayed in his family with his mom using it in 1976. Two and half years ago he started a "frame off" restoration. Completion is expected summer/2000.

The restoration is back to original. The electrical was upgraded to 12 volt negative ground 25 years ago, and that was left unchanged. Clock and radio run off a step-down. Interior is original leather & mohair. Color is a factory match of "Cruising Maroon", the car's original color. Chip has promised more photos when they roll out the finished product !
