HughForrest Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 Found a couple of pieces that don't seem to go to either of my cars, but I can't find them by the number in either of my books or online. Look to be chromed pot metal interior pieces I think, though I can't tell what they're for, with DCPD #794854. Thanks, Hugh Quote
Allan Faust Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 I can't find the numbers in my books.... what do they look like? Have any pics? Allan Quote
HughForrest Posted August 6, 2008 Author Report Posted August 6, 2008 The camera is at work, but I'm home. Pics in a couple days if nobody can find the number. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 My 46-48 P15 parts book doesn't seem to have any part numbers that start with 794......if that helps any. Quote

Thanks, Hugh That's interesting. I don't have part no. 794854 in my parts book... but... part no. 794853 is for a 1940 Chrysler (C25) interior dome lamp switch plate. Phil Quote
HughForrest Posted August 12, 2008 Author Report Posted August 12, 2008 Took a little longer than planned, but here are the mystery items. This is two different pics of the same 2 pieces in case that isn't clear. The DCPD logo is clear on the back. Quote
Allan Faust Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 This might be an off the wall possibility, but could it be an optional "hanger" for suits, etc... like we find in our cars nowadays? It looks like it would be held down with a screw somewhere and that you could hang a coat hanger or something off of it.... Allan Quote
Frank M. Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 I think Allens dead on. I HAVE seen them on the Interior and a assist strap was hanging from the loop. The"finger" with the knob was to hang coats or other clothes from. The screw that went thru to hold it on would bottom out when tightened so the strap could swivel foreward when it was used getting out of the car. Seems that most 4 doors and Limos had them. The part no. probably carried over thru 1948. Ive seen two types of straps on 46-48s. One was braided with a flossy ball on the end,and the other was a flat cloth strap type. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 You can see where the strap is on a P15 four door.....just can't see what attaches it at the top. I think they are right about being an attaching part plus a clothes hook. Quote
HughForrest Posted August 12, 2008 Author Report Posted August 12, 2008 That explains it. And neither of my cars woulda' used this part. Anybody need them? The price ($0) is right. Quote
Andydodge Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Those are the C Pillar grab handle strap holders, they are the same as whats on my Australian 1940 Dodge D15 Sedan(Plymouth based) so I'd say they are at least 1940 US Mopar, maybe earlier.........andyd Quote
Allan Faust Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Hey not too shabby... finally right about something that I didn't know what I was talking about..... Allan Quote
1947PLEVY Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 They are for the grab strap in the back seat area. My 47 P-15 has one on each side. Take Care and God Bless Us All.. John aka 47PLEVY Quote
