Vintrader Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I was asked a question the other day about vent/wing windows on Pilot House cabs that lead me to do a little research. I have looked at every picture I could find, and all years seem to have both. One piece large window that have no swing out vent and smaller side window with swing out vent. The only common factor I found is that trucks with no vent also have no rear corner windows. Does anyone know if this was the case? Was the cab with the vent and corner windows an upgrade? While I'm at it, what about the Rams Head on the hood, anyone know what years these where used? Dutch Quote
Merle Coggins Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 The Standard cab didn't have the corner windows and wouldn't have the vent windows. The Custom and Delux cabs have corner and vent windows. I believe the Ram's head is the same on 48-53 models, but I think there was some type of Ram's head on Dodge trucks since way back. Quote
Reg Evans Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 "While I'm at it, what about the Rams Head on the hood, anyone know what years these where used? Dutch" Dutch. Starting in 51 the rams hood ornament was no longer offered as standard equipment but could be ordered as an option. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Dutch, don't you have Don Bunn's book "Dodge B-Series Trucks". Tell Santa you need one of for Christmas. He discusses the differences between the Standard, De Luxe and Custom cabs. Merle is right on his info. In 1948 the De Luxe cab cost another $25.00 and the Custom cab would set you back $46.00. When Dodge redesigned the the pickup for the 1951 B-3 Series they removed the Ram as standard equipment. It seems to have disappeared from many '52 and '53 models as well. Part of that may be that the Korean war was using most of the Chrome during that time. Quote
Young Ed Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Anyone need a copy of the dodge truck history and restoration guide? I have an extra copy in very nice shape. Send me a PM. Quote
