well i'm about to reinstall my trans and clutch and..have a little problem..I know you guys have done this millions of times..so here it goes...

I looked all over for a clutch alignment tool..i found some universal thing..but cant figure out how to use it....

Some guy at an auto parts place told me to just use a "broom handle" or a dowel...ok my question (he couldnt answer)....Don't you have to have the tool to install the clutch properly so the trans shaft aligns with it perfectly in the slots???

Im was going to try with a wooden dowel but decided to ask you guys first..so i dont fight it all day .

thanks in adv.

first question, is the motor in our out of the truck. If it is in, here are the steps we used, mount the clutch to the fly wheel, hand tighten the bolts, use a a spare bolt.threaded rod intall in the bell housing this will act as guide for the shaft on the transmission (if you have two of them its even better) slide the tansmission into place, you can move the clutch disk slide it right in. Tighten the clutch/pressuer plate, put a couple bolts in the transmission, remove the guide bolts/rod, put the rest of them

My son and I just did an engine swap in his MR2. While we had the engine out I lined up the disk by eye and tighened down the pressure disk bolts. Tranny slid right in on the floor w/o any problem. Sometimes you just get lucky. Mike
