I would be VERY VERY careful when buying from them-- make sure to look it over really well- they have very optimistic descriptions- besides they charge youto go and look at the cars-- I think is $3 per person- I have been there and looked at the cars, not quite as described--

Actually, I don't see anything wrong with them charging someone to look around. After all, think about it for a minute. If you go to a swap meet to look for a car, you paid to get in didn't you. Even if you're for parts you pay to get into a swap meet to buy your parts, and, you not sure if you're going to find that part. If you walk out with nothing, the admission is still paid.

That said, I know of at least two other places you'll pay to get into to possibly buy an old car or just look. I believe I paid a very small amount $5 or less to walk through Duffy's in Cedar Rapids, IA. Also, if you go to Volo Auto Museum, Volo, IL, you'll pay to look for the cars for sale there too.

If these places didn't charge some type of admission they'd have lots of tire kickers and people with their small kids climbing all over these cars, damaging them and taking up the sales peoples time for nothing.

As far as condition of an old car goes. It really doesn't matter who looks at the car, even if you do it yourself. You can't tear the whole car apart when looking so you have to expect when you do get it home you'll usually find some type of problem with it. After all, it's not only a used car, but it's a very old used car. It's probably not going to be perfect even if you do the work yourself or pay a professional to do it. So.........regardless of who you buy from, you have to expect some problems with that car down the road.

Even new cars aren't always perfect. I've bought new cars with cranks that had to be replaced within 800 miles or clutch and transmission problems within 200 miles. Only difference is, they were new and still had a warranty. You can't expect a warranty on a 50 or 60 year old car.

Bottom line, if you were selling an old car (or any other one) the buyer would usually be allowed to look it over all the wanted. However, you wouldn't let him rip up the carpet, remove the door panels, etc. to look, would you? I wouldn't!! If he wanted to do that he'd have to buy it first.

Norm;

Did you hear this snog on the radio that you never turn on while driving?

Don, don't need a radio. I sing the songs myself. That way I only hear the songs I want to hear, not what some disc jocky wants to play. I'm a great singer, just don't ask those who ride with me how good of a singer I am.:D

The admission doesnt seem that bad to me either. The U-pull yards here charge $2 each to go in just to see if they might have your part. They only keep track of what cars they have not what parts are still on them so you pay the $2 and take your chances. The other part for them though is the parts are quite a bit cheaper then a normal salvage place.

I live about 20 miles from there. Been there lots of times $1 to get in walk around take pictures whatever. That blue ply is a beauty in person. was there the day they got it not sure but I think he said it was a Calif car. They have some great cars and some junk beyond use with hefty prices.

Mike which pilot house did you buy there? I probably saw it. Forgot to say when they say new paint be aware they take cars to paint shop in East Alton and put a very cheap job on them. Sometimes they are really rough. Be glad to look one over for someone.

My car actually came from there. The PO bought it from Country Classic Cars.

I've been there several times. There prices are pretty high but someone said those prices were very negotiable. It's worth a "look see" if you're ever going by.

They have tons of cars from rust buckets to drivers. It's worth the couple of bucks it costs to browse.

Wow....this turned into an interesting discussion....an informational experience.

The lady who told me knows I like old cars.....but she

could not remember the name of the place. I thought it was nice of

her to think of me...... Next time she comes in I'll tell her about what

I learned. Thanks to all for the input.:)

I've looked at vehicles and taken pictures for a couple forum

members in the past, and would be glad to do so for anyone that finds

a car in this area. If you want an "extra critical" revue, I can get my

son-in-law into the picture......he gets real nit-pickey as he's done

body work professionally in the past.

Still doing it.....at his home

garage...after working his regular job for an office supply. Currently

rebuilding a 1932 Ford delivery sedan street rod for a fellow. It was

first done up at least 10 years ago by a body man who ultimately

did a sloppy job.

I second that. I drove 4 and a half hours there with a trailer to buy a Challenger. It didn't even look like the same car they advertised. The hood was bent IN HALF (now, how did that happen?), subsequent smashed widshield, it was supposed to be running but it didn't have a radiator or most of the front of the engine which was just laying inside the bay - not bolted in, no interior, the wheels from the picture were replaced with cheap steelies, missing trim, etc etc. They did apologize and offered to reduce the price by $300. I was halfway home by then.

I bought my 50 Plymouth there, The price was ok and after some horse trading it was a bargain. It needs some work but was complete and running. They will not part out any of the cars, even the junk, so if you need some parts you must buy the whole car. The folks are very "down home" they have over the hill junk all the way up to showroom clean. You could spend a day looking and not see it all. :)

Deluxe NICE CAR! I don't believe I have ever seen your car here before...I must have missed it. Seem like a like this place is worth a try, just be careful if you are gonna buy...
